Badlands Precision Bullets thread - From BC to terminal ballistics

BC clearly matters. A friend of mine helped a buddy harvest this Bull Elk at 1225 yds. One shot and fell dead right there. Used a 300WM. The data for the load is seen in the table. Bullet penetrated fully and not recovered was a 195 gr BD2 hitting at an estimated 1761fps. For shooter it was his introducton to Bulldozers. Needless to say, he was impressed. Clearly these BD2 pills are designed for long range with a high BC for its weight giving it a very effective long range terminal performance

Another buck down at the hands of the .277 140 SBDII.

This one was taken at 285 yards, impact velocity of about 2765 fps. High shoulder hit, you can kind of see the impact in the photo, just below spine. Buck tatered on impact, and rolled down the hill. 2" exit, lungs were jelly. Again, nothing surprising here, this .277 bullet in my opinion is extremely effective.

The 205's are working great in my 300wm. Thought about those 195's too

Have had any feedback or tried the 205 SBD2 in a 300 Norma Mag or Improved version? I'm working on a 300NMI with a 26" 8 twist barrel. Wondering what kind of velocity to expect. I can seat out to 3.830" or so.

I'm at 3.704 coal in my 28" 300wm 1:8 and getting 2960 if that helps at all. I have verified bc in my rifle at .406 g7. Accuracy is great and I'm jumping .110".

I'm running h1000
I think @swaplord was running 205's in a 300nm

Probably should get about 3050-3100 fps from the 300 NMI and a 26" barrel. Mine has a 30" barrel and I get 3200.

Looking to pick up a box or 2 of the 205 sbd 2 for my 300 Norma. I'll be working with h1000 and n570, anyone able to give me a starting point for charge weight on either? Thanks

When I started my load work I just went with data for the 230 gr Berger. Start low and work up. These bullets are long and have a long bearing surface. They pressure up fast but hold their velocity well. They don't seem to mind a lot of jump so that can help mag feeding. At 2960 I'm still super sonic at a mile at only 2200'asl
