Badlands Precision Bullets thread - From BC to terminal ballistics

Are you going to run the SBD2s with RL-33? I've got some SBD (not the updated version) 270gr cartridges loaded up for a ladder with RL-33 (starting 99gr going up to 104) that I have yet to gather data on.
Yes, that's my plan. I expect pressure levels will run similar to the 275gr BD I've shot the last two years.

Will be about 1 month before my rifle is ready to roll with the new 8.25-twist Bartlein barrel. Could be late February before I'm shooting, as long as the temps where I live in Alaska allow me to get outside.

I haven't had chance to work up loadJust had some brass and dropped in some 240 SD for in timberWell ran into one and piled him only 200 yard Blew thru him behind shoulder out opposite shoulder Not that big exit he stumbled maybe 20 yards I'll be messing with load coming spring

What twist do they need?

Any idea what a 300 Norma loaded with the 205 will measure for Coal? Hoping to use this bullet. I have a 3.825 box
Using the 270 sbd in my .338 Norma I was right around at 3.835" touching the lands, and that is nearly a 2" bullet. I load to 3.775" for a .060" jump. This is with a standard throat. Pretty sure you will be good as long as you don't have it throated much longer than what is standard.

Unfired Petersen 300 Norma Magnum brass case with the Badlands 205 gr SBD2 bullet .... also unfired , ha !

This IS THE LONG RANGE HUNTING BULLET that will make the 300 NM and improved version shine !!!!
along with all other 30 cal magnums

The lower bullet weight will allow higher velocities to make full use of the bullets high bc

the new design "Death Star" hollow point and aluminum tip work extremely well together in getting that bullet to open up right away for a crushing, immediate death in large game animals like moose, I would not hesitate to take this bullet brown bear hunting on Mars from Earth

The 300 Razor design was influenced by the 205 gr Badlands SBD2 bullet ....

Now I can have that mag fed magnum with a high bc bullet suited for long range & short range game hunting, along with smashing any troublemaking griz/brown bear and potential velociraptors on the loose at close range....

All in a Remington m700 with 5 round detacheable Accurate mags, one mag in rifle, one mag in shirt pocket and you can take all big game species in Alaska without needing to change out rifles or ammo

Tagging in for more information, I've got a 338 Norma that will be done soon and these bullets have my attention.

Do all the new versions utilize the "Death Star" hollow point? From 22 caliber and up? Also what percent of the weight loss is petals? 40-50% with the rest being the shank? I'm interested in the 110 gr 0.257 And 100 gr 6mm. If the BC is right that100 gr out does a 115 Berger. I think the 100 gr out of my 6 dasher hunting gun would be a good match.

The below photo is the original design 196.5gr .308 Bulldozer as recoverd from a dall sheep, and includes weight retention.

Only other bulldozer I've recovered with the entire nose shed was a 145gr .284 bulldozer, which retained 76% of the original 145gr. That one was recovered from an off-side moose shoulder.

Again, these two recovered bullets were not Super Bulldozers - simply the original Bulldozers.

Can't speak to the weight retention of the versions utilizing the "Death Star" hollow point. But I don't expect to lose 45-50% of bullet weight with the copper nose wiped completely away. I'd speculate 70% -75% weight retention, if the hollow cavity does indeed extend a bit further into the nose of these bullets, compared to my examples from the original Bulldozer design.
