Took the first deer with my new Model 70 SuperGrade .300WM on Sunday, a nice little Axis doe, or as we call them out here Chital. Grass was really long so only shot I had was a high shoulder. 250 yards (ranged) with a Woodleigh 200gr bullet. Messed up one shoulder pretty bad but still put plenty of meat in the freezer. Beautiful skin for the trophy room too.

Wonderful! We used the 300WM and older Barnes 180xbt for Plains Game. It was the best "all around" caliber we took.

I went back looking for a trophy but only found does and immature stags. The big ones are there somewhere I just have to put the time in. Found plenty of rubs.

Took this stag on the weekend. Only a cull but I loaded up the freezer with meat plus I wanted the cape for a big set of antlers from a stag I hunted years ago.
