I am looking at building an AR-15 for long range fun.
I am looking at a 22 dasher but might consider a 22 BR.
I would shoot 75 -88 gr. Bullets mostly hornady (I live in Grand Island Ne.)
I am not wanting to turn necks.
And I have a UMAR lower.
I would like to here some advice and where to get components for the build.
Thanks Shawn

I would rather do the 22 Grendel.
And I had considered the 22 Grendel until I fell into this 22-250 AR-15 but it is limited to the lighter bullets. That is why I was thinking about the dasher since I already had a 308 bolt face.
And it would beat the Grendel and the valkyrie.
I already have one in 223 that shoots lights out at 600

I know this thread is a few years old, but a 22 GT would be awesome one a UMAR lower. Really sad they don't make them anymore because I would love to build one of these!!

I located my barrel nut and bolt again and started me thinking about the project again.
So the gunsmith and myself looked into what it would take to convert a standard ar-15 into a umar on and it doesn't look like it would be extremely difficult. The problem is who is making a barrel nut and bolt for one.
Then there is the problem of the magazine. We haven't taken a magazine apart yet to see what it would take to duplicate it.

I was playing around with the umar magazine and I believe that a non-tipped bullet up to 80 grains would work in it with a 22-250 or 22 creedmoor if it had a faster twist barrel.

I have an AR-10 in 22 creedmoor
And a 22-250 in an AR-15 (Olympic Arms UMAR)
I also have a barrel nut and bolt for a UMAR that I want to use for a 22 dasher
