I am thinking of getting one of there doe's anyone have any input. A lot of reviews on the internet say it is good but some say it is bad. It is made in the USA and has a lifetime warenty. The I did not find any bad stuff on the RCBS but it is Chinese and only has a 1 year warenty.

PACT High Speed Digital Precision Powder Dispenser and Scale

I am kinda in the same quandery. I was looking at the reviews on Midway's website on the Pact, Lyman, and RCBS. Were not many reviews on the Pact, but some of the past ones were bad.

I am not sure where the Lyman is made. I think alot of its negative reviews are people not letting it warm up enough, inproper calibration, using it unleval on the bench, drift in the room ect...

The RCBS model started off with great reviews all over the internet, now showing a few problems. Not sure whats up with that. Must be with the dispenser though as the 1500 scale by itself is dead nutz accurate.

I will try either the RCBS or the Lyman. Leaning kinda torwards the RCBS because of their customer support. Past exierence with them tells me they value their customers and will take care of you.

I just purchased the RCBS 1500 a few days ago. I have only loaded about 100 rounds now, but I like it so much that I just sold my Uniflow Powder Measure. I can't imagine going back. I did keep the beam scale for periodic checking.

So far the weights have been right on. The two things you will find that people are complaining about are maybe speed and sometimes an over-throw.

There is a fix for both.....the speed thing is not a real issue as it usually has thrown powder for the next round by the time you have seated a bullet. However, if you find you are waiting a few seconds for the powder to be dispensed, then there are some program settings to speed that part up for you. I haven't tried the settings yet, but I plan on it as I do need to speed it up a little.

For the over-throw problem...I didn't get any, but I can see how you could with the trickler. However, it has been posted that if you insert a McDonalds drinking straw into the tube to eliminate the screws, it will reduce the overthrows to a minimum....I haven't needed to do that yet.

Either way, the two issues are really ticky tack things that can be resolved. Don't let those get in the way of your decision....I almost did.

Topwater has it right.

I've been using the RCBS combo for 3 years and it is great. I changed the settings a little and it is fast. I get a 1/10th overthrow on occasion, but I just use a Lee dipper and dip out a grain or 2 and it is good to go. Prior to the RCBS, I used a Pact and it was slower, but I understand they've sped it up a bit.

I've measured powder just about every way possible, hand thrown, dipped, measured/trickled etc. I'd have trouble going back now that I've been using the RCBS.

Good Luck,
AJ

Run don't walk away from the PACT! It is not even in the same class as the RCBS unit! I have them both -- the PACT struggles with accuracy and repeatability plus it hates ball powder. The RCBS unit is perfect.
