How is the stability?

I would be afraid the outside of the carcass would look like it had been in a skateboard accident down a large hill...That's why I loaded the monos.

Just put it back in the stock. Using the Swaro BRH reticle to keep the weight down. No need to dial a lazer beam...

All I shoot from my 300 RUM are 168 TTSX. Works for everything. Coues at 90, elk at 600 were the most recent kills. Under .5 from a stock 700 SPS.

I would try a 200 accubond or 190 berger. You should be fine if you're looking for 0-500 performance.

The 152 Hammer Hunters are more deadly than you think, I run them in a 300 wsm at 3400 FPS and everything you shot with it hits the ground so fast you are thinking they must have been struck by lightning. You won't be disappointed.

I would load up the 130 HH at about 3800 fps and start hammering deer out to 600 yards with ease. Sure a bigger bullet will have a better BC but out to "normal" ranges velocity will beat BC every time.

152 HH @ 3650 fps @ 600 yards in a 10mph full value wind you get 29.8 inches of drift and arrive with 1381 ft lbs of energy with 2026 fps impact.


190 Berger @ 3200 fps @ 600 yards with a 10mph cross wind you get 19.1 inches of drift and arrive with 2144 ft lbs of energy with 2264 fps impact.



If like you said 600 is "normal" the 190 BC has already taken over. 400 yards may be a different conversion but by 600 that hammer is whooped.

I agree with rebarrel, but CF aren't cheap and this one shoots well for now. Once it's toast I will go with a faster twist. I am collecting components now for another build. I didn't ask the right questions when I bought it. Never in my life would I have thought a RUM would be barreled with a 12 twist, but oh well, I bought it, so I'll shoot it.

I live in VA so this will be a whitetail, potentially blackbear, but honestly if I had to go to Montana tomorrow to hunt elk, I would be confident in this one, at least for the MPR it provides based on the phone app. My concern was with a little heavier cup and core not being able to handle the speed on impact. It shoots the 180 Accubond well also, but just afraid it would come apart at the ranges in VA. I know I don't need a RUM in VA, but I'm compensating

If and when you decide to re-barrel it consider a 8.5-9 twist. With the higher BC bullets coming out in the future I would go with the 8.5 as it won't be long before some bullet manufacturing company comes out with a bullet that maximizes the potential of. 308 magnums ballistically. Having the right twist rate for stabilizing the bullets will be a game changer for the 30 caliber magnums. To me, an 7.75 would be perfect.

Umm...My calculator for 152 HH with my 3504 MV puts me at 600 yards with 2211 FPS/1651 ft lbs E/23.4" drift.

190 Berger 3200 MV= @ 600 yards 2278 FPS/2189 ft lbs E/18.4 drift.

I was asking about Monos. I have run the numbers and shot quite a few with this rifle (to include the 190 Berger all that will stabilize in the 12 twist).

That depends on who's BC you use and your elevation. That is the real BC on the 152 HH that I have shot. And the real BC from a 1:12 300wsm on the 190 berger at 700 feet elevation. I arrived at my numbers by shooting them.
