Anybody use the powder dipper with Lee dies?

My point was..... filling a 223 case FULL of any powder in the recommended range of powders is inviting disaster..... and personal injury.

I respectfully disagree.

But, I think everyone should research it properly and follow safe loading practices.

Since I had never tried this, I did just now fill a once-fired 223 Rem case completely with Varget which came out to 27.8g using a random case.

My Lyman book lists 28.2+ as a max load for Varget and a 50 gr bullet with a pressure well below max for other loads with this bullet.

Now... If I were to use Varget in this way, I'd still back down and work up. But, I beleive the result would be that it'd be safe even when the case is filled completely.

For the 3rd or 4th time. If anyone chooses to do this, don't take my word for it. Work up your load safely.

thanks!
Richard

I'm not in the shop and I don't have access to the books but then I only use 332 & 335, not Varget so you may be correct.

At least I know what the yeller thing is for now.....:)

I could never bring myself to "dip" the powder charges. I just didnt have enough faith in the dippers being close enough on weights of different powders.
