Any experience with the Badlands Precision .338 270 grain Super Bulldozer?

Ok, got some data.

Peterson brass
GM215M
270 Badlands Super Bulldozer, HBN coated
Seated .025" off, 3.819" OAL

H1000:
87.0 - 2782
88.0 - 2801
89.0 - 2846, beginning pressure signs on primer, discontinued work up

Retumbo:
88.0 - 2803
89.0 - 2823
90.0 - 2858, beginning pressure signs on primer, but didn't notice it in the dark shoot house.
91.0 - 2906, very light bolt lift, discontinued work up

VV-N-570:
91.0 - 2923, light pressure signs on primer, did not shoot more

These 270 Bulldozers seem to pressure up somewhat early than I figured they would, they are 5 grains heavier than the ABLR's that I loaded but they were uncoated and these are HBN coated so I figured that would offset, the monolithic design must be building a little pressure. I will certainly be able to pressure up with VV N-570, I will do another work up with it starting at 86 and working up to 90.

From what I have seen on this work up, with VV N-570 I should be able to get 2900 or just under for a safe max, H1000 would probably get 2800 at a safe max, and Retumbo would land around 2825 for a safe max. Keep in mind, I'm using a 24" barrel, with the 26"+ barrels on most 338 NM's, I would think you would get another 50-150 fps than I am seeing.

As far as accuracy, I think these gonna shoot....H1000 and Retumbo both respectively made 3 and 4 shot groups at or just under an inch.

I think a couple of my guys reported early pressure in the 338 ss too.

Didn't you also pressure up early with the 270 cal badlands?
Yup, the 128's pressured up with lower loads than anticipated, but they also didn't reach the velocities I was expecting in the .270 Sherman, 3200 with the 128 was as hot as I dare go with several powders, especially since I was developing the load here in Wyoming for my cousin to use in California. Had carbon come around the primer and lost the pocket on one that was 3300 with RL26, in Norma brass. At least these .338 270's are getting in the ballpark of expected velocity, though possibly a little slower than a lead core bullet of same weight. At 2800-2850 though, I still think I will try them, especially if accuracy is as good as I think it will be. They only have 1-2" more drift at 1000 yds than the 300 bergers, not even 1 click, and recoil, while not a problem with the 300's, is less with the 270's, fulky dressed with sling and bipod loaded this gun is 10 lbs 7 oz so a little less recoil may aid in long range field consistency. I'll play with them more and find out.

I dont know if id have luck in my NM its a 1:975? I have some 240's to try,but have alot other things pulling on me.

I,ve shot the 240, and 225 bulldozers in my 338 sherman max. the 240 ran the same speed and pressure as the 250 burger EH at around 2900, And the 225 bulldozers ran the same as the 230 ELD-X. Sorry, I know your asking about the 270's. I just wanted to add that the bulldozers are the most accurate two bullets in my gun. It's hard to find a load that's not accurate.

Finished up pressure work up with vv n-570, as follows -

86 - 2736
87 - 2774
88 - 2832
89 - 2836
90 - 2868

They grouped really well too. I might try a load around 88.5 and shoot some groups next

Got my final load for the 270 Bulldozers!!

270 Badland Bulldozer, HBN coated
88.5 grains VV N-570
.025" off (3.819" OAL)
Peterson brass
GM215M
2835 fps

Three different 3 shot groups @200 yards, pictured below. I adjusted the last one but guessed and went a little far. This gun is a shooter, and these bullets make it easy, I haven't done ANY seating depth testing, and don't think I will.

89.0 grains Retumbo at about 2825 fps didn't do too bad either, and the horizontal stringing may have been me, but still right around half MOA, maybe a touch over. If I can't find any N-570, this or a load close to this will be my back up.
