Ok fellas, I've done gone and done it. I ordered a long range rifle to go with my new scope that I just got. So that means I must be in stage 2 of the new rifle process......impatiently waiting!!! The new shootin' iron will be made of the following components:

APS Raptor action
APS/Lilja Stalker contour barrel
Jewell triger
Manners MCS-2TA stock in dark urban flectarn camo
Zeiss Conquest Scope; 6.5 x 20 x 50 with Rapid Z 1000 reticle
338 Allen Express (how could I forget!)

As I said on Kirby's "Raptor is in" Thread, it is one of the most impressive actions I have ever seen. It works as smooth as silk and is hefty, hefty, hefty. Beautiful workmanship and an inspired design.

So....here I am in the same boat as many of you who have had to anxiously wait on your new baby. I may need some group support to endure this wait. Hey, do you suppose we could form a "support group for expecting new long range gun owners to be"? lightbulb:)

I've driven from Augusta to Great Falls a bunch and if I remember right Ft Shaw is fairly close to GF, I don't suppose you'll visit Kirby during the build :D.

What chambering did you go with?

Sounds like you have a case of builditis and the only known cure is when it arrives at your doorstep. In the meantime I compartmentalize and not think about it but, when I do a dose of gun porn gives temporary relief.:)

Big N Green: Yeah, its pretty close! I've offered to move in with him and take over mowing his lawn, but I dont think he is too keen on the idea! LOL Honestly, I will try and leave him alone, he has enough work to do without me bothering him. Of course, if we should need to shoot, or go riding quads...........................

I know what you mean. I've got it bad. I ordered a 7WSM. While waiting for it I started to think about my next build and ordered a 338LM before the 7WSM was finished. So now I have 2 I'm waiting for. I already know what my next one will be but I'm trying to hold off for awhile. If I keep this up, eventually I should be getting a new custom rifle every year
