Aluminum or Stainless Bottom Metal

Hello All, This is my first post here. I'm working on my first custom build on a Remington 700 Short Action. I'm wanting a .243 Win. because of the light recoil (I have an eye disease and worried about my Corneas detaching). I was wondering if there is a preference on the Bottom Metal material (BDL Hinged Floorplate)?

I prefer steel. Nothing wrong with aluminum but for a working rifle steel just wears better.

I would use stainless steel because it is not coated and you don't have to worry about wiping
it down every time someone handles it and like the blued steel it adds some strength to the
stock where as the aluminum does not.

The aluminum is painted and scratches very easy.

I had a brake installed on my 7MM Mag and it kicks about the same as my .243.

The break is a good thought to open up many more calibers options.
