I'm torned between 3 intermediate scopes for my 308 m40a1 "styled" rifle. I say style bc it's not a pure m40a1 build. I want to use it for hunting and get into PRS (designated marksman) competitions with a relative . My relative being a retired marine is a Unertl and US Optics fan, but those are currently out of my price range. I'm saving up to get a US Optics ST-10, but i want to get something i can build up my marksmanship skills while i save up funds.

I narrowed it down to the optics below

  1. Sightron siii 10x42 = $550 new
  2. IOR 10x42 or 10x56 = $600-800~ used
  3. SWFA SS 10x42 = $300 new

The bushnell fixed 10x is another option and will be even cheaper.

But the SWFA is a known commodity and should serve your purpose well.

I'd put a WTB ad out and get a used one for even less money, just make sure its mil/mil.

Good response. i'll put an ad out

I am going to go with a fixed 12x swfa, their reputation is outstanding. there are a couple good video reviews of the swfa on youtube.
