I am going to be helping my brother build a rifle in 25-300wsm. we are looking at two different actions to build off of. The savage target or the savage varmint action are our choices. It does not mater to him if it is a 1 shooter. The rifle is going to be used for long range deer and predator hunting. I was wondering what you guys thought we should do? Also is the target action port going to be big enough with that fat of a case and am i going to be able to switch bolt heads to magnum size.

Thanks
Chris

Either action will work fine. I prefer the target action myself, but I prefer a single shot for long range work. The target action is stiffer because there is no magazine cut out. You won't have any problem with the size of the port for the WSM cartridge. Changing out the bolt face is very simple, just a punch and hammer.
