I have a Remington 700 rifle currently chambered in 300 RUM. I have no desire to shoot a 300 RUM. Can I use this action/bolt to build a 6.5x284? Compatible calibers in the .264 or .284.? Or would I have to change something? Different bolt face? I’m not sure where to start researching this.
thanks,

just my opinion your best move is to sell it and buy the gun you want or an appropriate action to build off of if you are wanting a 6.5-284

That is definitely an option. I just didn’t know if I could build off of what I have to work with or not.

A 264WM would screw in, the only drawback with that RUM action is the fact it is opened right up for the fatter cartridge, therefore, any RUM based cartridge would be better.
RSAUM, WSM, Nosler, Dakota or another RUM cartridge.
I just sold my 338EDGE...kicking myself now, cuz I want to build a SAUM and I only have belted mag actions left.

Cheers.

Thanks for the replies and ones that reached out to me.
my best bet will be to sell the rifle and just buy an aftermarket/custom action and just build.

guess I’ll have a rifle to get posted up for sale soon when I get time.
