After about 7 years and many dollars spent I have finally got an accurate long range
rifle.
After sinking many hours and dollars into my Ruger hawkeye 300 win mag, I finally just bought an accurized Remington 700 from hillcountryrifles about 9 months ago. It is a 300 win mag also . I am super happy with it. It obviously shoots way better than my ability.
I went to the range yesterday and shot both rifles at 200 yards . the remington shot several , honest 1/2 minute of angle , groups.
The Ruger still has some problems as you can see.
the Remington is a ( " harvester " model from hill country rifles ) 700 with talley rings and a 4.5 x 14 Zeiss conquest with the rapid z reticle.
The Ruger is a model 77 hawkeye that has been glass bedded, free floated, chamber tightened, and trigger adjusted to 2.5 lbs. stock ruger rings, with a nikon prostaff 3 x 9 scope.
I have been reading this forum a lot, and watching tbosaurusrex videos on you tube and have learned a lot. I know most of you can probably shoot way better than this , but for me, I was very happy to finally shoot this well.
I will keep practicing and probably keep working with my ruger until I get it to shoot at least a little better.
Hope you like the pics
