Made it out to the range today and had some interesting results.

Atmospherics = 5550', 78*, bright sun, 3-5mph from 10:30
Labradar
39.5 - 3029
40.0 - error
40.5 - error * pierced primer (happens sometimes with this rifle although usually with small primers)

Looking at my target, I have a feeling my node, if it is safe, will be in shots 2-4, ending at 3110. Really unfortunate that 2 of those 3 had an error on the LR. After the blown primer, I went back to shooting a few more of my typical plinking load which is a 147 eld-m, in the same lot of ADG brass and primers as above test and 41.7gr of RS Hunter running 2700. No issues with any of those fired before or after the test rounds.

I think I will redo the 39.5-41.0, but with 3 rounds each instead of 1, and at 400yds.
I'm impressed you pierced a primer and kept rolling. When that happened to me I'm done.

This rifle has pierced plenty of primers before so one is a yellow flag, 2 is a red flag, especially since there were no other signs of pressure, no hard bolt lift, no swipe.

Well I have my first batch of 123 AH loaded for powder charge testing. 6.5x284N, Bullet is seated at the base of the shoulder and puts it between the power bands. .02 neck tension and a ButterBean crimp. Lapua brass, FGMM primers, Varget 46 - 52grns and H4350 48 - 53grns. I'll post results tonight, will be using a magneto speed.

Alright, I'm going to read through this entire thread tonight. I had planned on using the 175 elite hunter or 168 ABLR out of my 22" 7 SAUM for my elk hunt next month. But am intrigued by these Absolute Hunter bullets.
Would the 155 be the bullet to try? I have a 8.5 twist barrel. Defiance XM action but not an overly long throat.
Will keep reading, thanks for the info.

Results from today's trip to the range. Going to load some more with the H4350 and keep going up till I hit pressure signs. Thinking I can get to 3300 or close to it. Second photo is Varget and third is with H4350

.308 Winchester, 151 grain AH
Savage 99, 22" barrel w/ 1 in 10 twist
Starline small primer brass, federal match primers
OAL: 2.796
Powder: LT-32

Shot 5 of each load, average velocities given. Accuracy not tested because I used a magnetospeed chronograph.

39 gr 2709 sd 5
39.5 gr 2747 sd 3
40 gr 2778 sd 3
40.5 gr 2811 sd 8
41 gr 2849 sd 13

Discontinued testing because all 40.5 and 41 grain cases stuck, and removing them without a cleaning rod was becoming difficult. This is typical for the Savage 99, and I observed no other signs of pressure - I don't believe excessive pressures were reached. After muzzleloader season is over I will resume testing - I might be able to alleviate the extraction issues and go further.

At 42 grains the case seems mostly full, I would expect a compressed load much beyond that, with this cartridge length. Curious what this powder would do with a couple more inches of barrel and a longer OAL.

I just heard from Neconos (Quickload), that Hammers are in the July update. I don't know specifically about the AB but I ordered it and will update this post as soon as I receive it.
I just installed the July update and yes, Hammers are now incorporated. I only looked at the .264, as that is the only caliber I use, but there is one bullet missing, the 123 AH. The 109 and 129 AH are there along with the CH and HH, but not the 123 AH, the one I am trying to load. I just emailed them and hope it is just an oversight but we'll see.

It was just a typo, the 123 SH that was in the db was supposed to be 123 AH. They gave me the directions to fix and all is now right. Quickload support is awesome. I don't think I've ever had to wait more than a few business hours, or even evening hours sometimes, for a response. Now to compare QL with real world data and see how close it is, not that it matters as real world wins, but I'm curious.
