Perfect. I'll load a couple more and start at 52.

I really want to use h4350. If that doesn't work I'll bump up to 4831 but i expect I'll run out of case capacity with that.
Thanks!
Yes, 4831 is too slow. H4350 may leave some velocity on the table but should give you nearly perfect case fill.

In my last couple of emails with Steve, he has suggested using Hodgdons website and picking a powder in the same bullet weight (or close to it) as the AH. Start at the max charge and go up until you find pressure. I like to cross reference with Nosler to see what case fill is at and see if I have room for more powder.
From looking at both load data sites, W760 and IMR7828 may be good choices. ButterBean is going to give me hell about suggesting 7828 since we have a long standing inside joke about it. 🤣

That's good advice from Steve.

I like checking Nosler data for casefill also, but I found it didn't quite line up with Hammers for me. Seems the Hammers protrude deeper into the case than a typical Nosler, so the cases seem to run out of capacity a little quicker (assuming SAAMI OACL).

I think 7828 is too bulky, but you might be onto something with W760/H414 though. Haven't tested it myself yet.

Since W760 is a ball powder, it should work really well. Probably could go with 7828 Short Cut to get more in there.
My COAL's are typically longer than SAAMI spec, so I tend to get around this some. Mag length is my general limiting factor.

H414/W760 is good stuff, Temp sensitive but easily predictable

Worked today on .257 Roberts and the 90 grain Absolute Hammer. Temp:30F,
Powder H335, Primer Fed210, COAL 2.88
Barrel 22" (Kimber) 1/10 (Book max with 90 gr. Sie HPBT 43 gr. H335 @ 3100 FPS.

42 gr. 3112 FPS
43 gr. 3224 FPS
44 gr. 3291 FPS
45 gr. 3373 FPS
46 gr. 3456 FPS
46.5 gr. 3516 FPS (slight ejector mark)
47.0 gr. 3475 FPS (heavy ejector mark/bolt lift) Still room left in the case, but reached pressure at 46.5/47. Looks like 46 gr. is about the place for this rifle/power/bullet combination. All weights grouped into one neat little group, with only a bit of horizontal stringing. This rifle has never been a real "shooter", but at less than 7 lbs. with sling & scope included, it's fun to carry. It appears this .257 Roberts will really gain a lot of punch with the Absolute Hammers. At 3450 FPS the 90 grain AH generates 2400 EFP, while the existing 117 gr. load I've been using (@2875 FPS) generates only 2100 EFP.
