Absolute Hammer load data

Refer to the Absolute Hammer load data table. H100V gives Win Mag performance at just over 3000 fps.(second page of this thread)
For the lighter bullet, would it work for the 178?

And I can't see the load data table from my phone- not sure why ( says file format not recognized)

Also the guy on page 2 of this thread is using benchmark powder not h100v

The h100v with the 178s got 3080 from a 26" bbl, I'm getting mid 2800' with a 21" with preliminary loads so if I switched to h100v I'm guessing my max would be in the low 2900's -- RL 16 and maybe 23 are showing promise of the same speeds as my mid 2800's showed no pressure and I can fit more in the case

Plenty of it, but its never been a go,to for the -06

Max load of varget with 180 lead core bullets only shows 2670fps-- I think it would be difficult to get enough in a case to get it up to 2900fps

Generally no it's not but Steve stated in Sept when they did initial testing that due to engraving pressure being reduced with their new design it takes more powder to reach pressure and that may cause you to run out of case capacity before you can pressure out. Therefore with this new design it may require you to load with powders that have a faster burn rate than normal for a given bullet/cartridge combo. I experienced this with my 25SST. With the old 92gr HH I saw bolt lift at 62gr of rl26 running 3736. With the new 90gr AH's I ran up to 69gr of rl26 at 3980. Never ran into any bolt lift but was out of room for powder.
So I dropped to H4350 and saw bolt lift at 3977 at about 95% case fill. So I still had good velocity with RL26 but the case fill was much better with h4350 so your not having to use a drop tube or vibrate the case to settle powder. Then again varget may yet still be to fast I just thought it might be worth testing.

Cohunt,
Don't know why you can't open the sheet. It's a Word Document. My bad, not 2nd page, it's the 2nd comment on this thread. The 178 gr bullet hit 3080 with Hybrid100V in a 30-06.

Yup, but that was with a 26" barrel-- I'm working with a 21" -- I don't think h100v would hit 2900 with a 21"--- you usually loose 25-35 fps per inch so I'd be 125-175 fps slower than him-- it might be real close though --- if the RL16 or 23 won't get me there, then ill see if I can find some 100v

In my tikka 30-06 varget hit pressure with a fully compressed case and the 151 AH. got to 3180ish backed off to 3130 with good accuracy very Low sd/ES. I think Varget might work better for the 165 class AH but it could be worth a try in the 178.

Still looking for someone to try the 178 in a 300wsm, guess I'll just have to order some and let my smith play around with to see what we can achieve. Any guess on what the speed would be ?

I bought some 178s, was gonna run them in 30-06, maybe 308, and 300wsm--- but my 300wsm is finally on the way so I'm gonna have to do a break in first before I play with the 178s in it.

Definitly post the wsm results if you get to it, I might send mine out to see what it will do with them as my smith does the load work for me ( I don't reload as of yet )

I can't specifically help with the 134 SH, but I have had good results with Reloder 16 and the 131 HH. I started work up at 40.0 grains. Final load of 43.5 grains shot 2970 fps from a 26" barrel with ES of 10.
good deal...I'll start there and work up....thank you...Al

Ok, ill give it a shot with the 178s--- I was pleasantly surprised to see its not even close to filling the case like RE26 or RE 23 -- the RE16 i can fit an additional 1.5- 2 grains in the case, I'm trying a max load of varget (for lead 180s)like I did for the other 3 powders and ill see what kind of speed I get.

As far as faster, I also have I4895, TAC (not really temp stable) and 8208xbr & H335 if i want to go even faster burn rates.

Appreciate the work here...but did something get screwed up? Wanted to reference Steve's data (RockyMtn) on the 280 AI with 155 grain Absolutes...was thinking that the velocity was 3250 but now it shows 3320, and no longer has the powder charge nor the barrel specs which I am pretty sure it had previously...

Along with that, his data for the 140 grain I can no longer find....I was pretty sure the 3320 fps was from his 140 grain load....
