Absolute Hammer load data

I think I could especially if I switched to Hornady brass. I figured 100-150 fps over the standard 110 HH is a good pick up... I'm not in a hurry to switch yet, I have a ton of Varget and only a pound of 8208 xbr. Lol
Seems like most are getting 200fps over the regular Hammers, but 150 is great - especially with good groups!
 
Anyone having problems with bullets sticking in their seating stems? I tried polishing them with no luck, maybe try a 277 or 264 for my 7mm? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you aloha

Shot 3 shot groups at 100yds with H4350 in .5gr increments from 59-61.5gr. Almost all groups were around half moa except for 61gr at 1". Testing was done with a suppressor attached.

Best group was .4" at 59gr with a velocity of 3760. Brass lasted 8 firings here.

61.5gr shot .6" at 3880 fps. Brass lasted 3 firings.

H4350 looks like a good powder for this case. For the conditions 9cl 12mph wind and slight mirage I thought they shot pretty good and should do much better in more ideal conditions. Not to mention the round count on my barrel is pretty high. Definitely a step up in velocity from the 92gr HH's I tested last year.

I started pressure testing H4895 also but haven't finished yet. It looks like it will be to fast for this combo with a lower load density to. Should finish out 100-200 fps behind h4350

Also had a 3/4" hard-end steel plate at 100yds that I put a 90gr hammer into at 3900fps just for the heck of it. It almost made it all the way through!

Now I just need to test it out on game.

N-555 might be a good one to try if you have it I have been getting great fps with it in several different chamberings
 
If I can find N555 Il try it out.
I did a little more testing today and ended up with 59gr of H4350 -.001" 3780 fps
This load averaged in the .3s with high winds so it should work well on game this year.

Second 3 rounds. Adjusted Scope (Focusing on shot). .564" with two bullets touching.

Sighting in process was with a Pulsar Thermion G50 thermal weapons sight (not generally used for developing precision rounds. But I've got hogs to drop tonight and wanted to get this bullet dialed in).

I'm being conservative with my load tests until I can get more primers (like everyone else on the planet.)

I've got other powders to play with but too much going on and not enough primers to sacrifice.

I'll let y'all know if the hogs show up.

I think you should get much higher velocities than this. I'm getting 3033 fps using the 124 gr Hunter and RL16 in my Creed. I will be trying the 123 gr Absolute with either 8208XBR or BL-C(2) in the near future
 
Got some load info.
An earlier post of mine disappeared when this site had issues. So, I'll recap it first. Tried Steve's load with the 140 gr Absolute in my 280 AI using HV100. I hit pressure early, which I have now determined to be caused by 3x fired & annealed Nosler brass. Did a redo today with virgin Nosler brass and hit 3416 fps at 64.0 gr and no pressure signs. Looks like I have a nice node from 63.5-64.0 gr, so I'm going to fine tune it and not chase more velocity.

Last trip out, I also tested the 162 gr Absolute in my 30-06 with IMR4350. This powder was waaaaaay too slow. At 60.0 gr it was only 2969 fps, but accuracy was excellent.
So, decided to try a much faster powder today and went with Benchmark. I was real conservative and didn't push it much. Started at 47.0 gr which yielded 2739 fps. Stopped at 52.5 gr at 3000 fps. Plenty of case capacity to go higher and absolutely no sign of pressure.
I'm using virgin Hornady brass, CCI250 primer and a COAL of 3.335". I'll report back once I get to try out higher charge weights, but Benchmark looks promising.
