Recently had a request to help develop a possible unique commercial shooting/hunting venture. Would like any input to the following questions:
.. blend of prairie dog shooting, steel shooting and other unique trigger-pulling opportunities
.. intent is to instruct some of the finer points of LR and setup an opportunity for a LOT of quality shooting. Guides and shooting instructors would ensure you learned good stuff and shot mucho
.. could be some very interesting people in attendance to shoot with, learn from
.. ranch home is setup to welcome 8 or so guests, very comfortable, about a gazzilion hunting videos and big T.V., beautiful location - Milk River bottom - hosts a bunch of celebrety hunters annually for t.v. deer hunts etc.
Possible Scenario
.. First Day - shooting a metalic prairie dog town then a set of life-sized steel big game critters out to 1000 yards (and other steel targets, some reactive), then a session on an electronic moving target system - marksmanship, data book, wind, mirage doping instruction availalble
.. Second Day - prairie dogs or possibly gopher killing in quantity
.. one evening would include an outdoor Western dutch-oven style meal, suitable libations - all other meals at the ranch table, incredible home-cooking
Accomodations and superb meals included. Location - northern Montana, about center of state not far from U.S./Canadian border
Other unique possibilities on this working cattle ranch, ranging from interesting archeological digs (arrow heads etc) to fishing. Coyotes also a possibility.
How good are the accomodations - good enough for the Realtree T.V. crew and hunters - they have lived there every hunting season for several years - come back every season.
Questions:
.. is two days enough? Should such a venture be 3 or 4 days per session?
.. what do you feel would be a reasonalble fee for such a shooting experience?
.. any other comments?
Thanks guys, appreciate any info you might provide. If this takes off, maybe we will pull some trigger sometime
