$8k for a proof rifle

That's a no for me man. Proof makes some nice stuff no doubt but you can buy two rifles that will shoot just as good possibly better.

They have lost sight of the market if they think that will be a sought after set up IMO.

Not to disparage Proof, they make good products, but perhaps this is the time-proven strategy of charging more for a product makes the buyers feel like they are getting a better product. 🤷‍♂️
^^^THIS^^^ Read a few threads here and you see it every hour day after day. IE: Guy asks for a good scope under 1K. Within 2-3 posts he is being told to skip the junk and drop 3-7K because that is the minimum he needs to spend for a "good" scope. Yet, 9-10 hunters and shooters would not nor cannot spend even 1K on a scope. We all have seen it here and all kinds of places.

They're making the stock in house, maybe $250, making the barrel in house $250, have to source the titanium action, trigger, bdl, call that 2 g's. They're into the rifle maybe 3k tops with components and time paid to their employees to build. I guarantee these rifles get more quality attention than their hit and miss prefits that go out. They have a very good cnc to cut chambers, they all should be straight.

Watched a video on the new proof Tundra Ti, I can't wrap my head around a $7800 price tag for this rifle. I have seen a lot of the custom stuff people sell and buy and I can't believe proof wants almost $8k for this. Maybe I have lost touch, or this is just insane.
Typical manufacturer loosing touch with reality and the working class that built their business! I'd much rather shell out the money to a custom builder that appreciates the opportunity!

$8K to some folks is chump change. I would definitely go full custom at this price point. I'm sure it probably a nice rifle and would not begrudge anyone wanting to buy one.
They will be like pulling up next to a new corvette or Lamborghini. A older guy is driving it. Young men can't afford to.

For less money but more wait time I can have EXACTLY what I want, in MY chosen caliber and configuration.
We know who is the target market here, and they have the money to buy anything related, but generally not the specific knowledge of calibers or components, weights, or performance etc.

And they might be leaving in a few weeks for their hunt…so no spare time.
Hey if it performs and the customer is happy in the end, 👍👍👍.
