800 - 1000 Yard Long Range Options

I have a Ruger M77 30-06 that I haven't shot in 20 plus years. Wanting to go a different direction. Wondering what options I might have for a long range build. Looking for something smaller than 30 cal. Saw 4 boxes of Nosler 26 brass at local sporting goods store. Don't know much about the round or if it would even work. Same with the 28 Nosler. Any thoughts...

Why change it? Its perfect as is! I use my M77 30-06 all the time out to 1200yrds. 168 Hybrids running a touch over 3000 makes for an awesome round! Dont get caught up in all the "New" "horsepower" The old '06 is more than capable!
