My son shot this buck at 306 yards tonight a little high in the shoulder. DRT. Shot it with the 243 80 grain hammer. Muzzle velocity was 3200 fps which puts impact velocity at 2245 fps. This buck was dead before he know what hit him.

Attached are a few pics of buck and terminal performance.

Couldn't ask for better performance out of a 80 grain bullet.

jfseaman,
Yes we do really care how they perform. That is one of the things our bullet must do when it gets to target.

Excellent! I used the old Barnes 85gr XBT at 243 speeds in a little long barreled 6x47 ( 222 mag necked up) on Texas Exotics. this was in January of 2000, recovering from a neck surgery. I killed axis doe/buck and a 500# Scimitar Horned Oryx with it! I di worry a poor jackrabbit to death with it because it just zipped right through. I believe your bullet style would have worked "better" overall. congrats to the youngster! ( PS Still in no hurry, but how are the 358 prototypes working out, any reports? ) Happy Thanksgiving!

Nice shot and a great deer!! Congrats to your son.gun)

Jfseaman not sure if you were stating a fact that they care on bullet performance or what, but one would assume that is a good thing and that certainly says a lot about their company..to me at least.

I know that my bull elk, who was on the receiving end on a 143gr Hammer a few weeks ago, wasn't necessarily pleased they have invested this much time and effort into getting their bullets to flat out perform.

I have not heard from the gentleman that we sent test bullets to. I assume he is out trying to find elk like the rest of us in MT. No snow this year, making it tough. I'll send him a note and see how he is doing.

Thanks Pard...as said, I'm in no hurry, just got my hand operated on recently, I couldn't load them right now if they were sitting on my load bench! Happy thanksgiving too!
