has anyone run the 110 tsx in 270 wsm through an 8 twist barrel? what were your results? i'm looking at an 8 twist 3 groove .277 pack-nor barrel. i inquired with barnes tech support and was told it would work fine with the 110 tsx, but i am concerned it will prove to be a finicky combination.
thanks.

I would say go with the 8" twist barrel. I can't speak for the Barnes bullet but I know that the extra twist has not been a problem with out bullets. We don't have one as light as the 110g but our 117g Hammer Hunter will have no trouble with the 8" twist. The 8" twist will allow you to run up to our 156g Hammer Hunter. So much more versatile than the standard 10" twist that is usually on the 27cals. 10" twist is truly a handicap for the 27cal.

Not sure if this helps. I don't have the 1-8 twist. I wish I would have. But i got a 26" benchmark barrel 1-9 twist . and shoot the 110ttsx at 3500fps it's fun and fast tack driver and accurate out to longer range Also shoot the 165 matrix vlds also and I'm at 1000ft above seas level

thanks for both responses. both make me feel more comfortable with the 8 twist. the range i typically go to is around 700 ft above sea level. more often than not, i find myself hunting around 1400 ft.
are you running the heavy vld's out of a short action? i'm currently running 2.950 overall length. i'm pretty sure i have a good thirty thousandths more room to work with.

It's built off of a tikka t3 action... I normally hunt from 0- 2300 ft above sea level. Sometime higher but not much. I have them seated long I can't recall off the top of my head. If you want I can post them tomorrow when I'm around my notes. But I loaded the 110 ttsx for my son to shoot it without recoil he loves it. To be honest I liking it alot also. Last week I shot them to 700 yards to see how the **** at distance and it did really well . I also shot about a 2" group at 400yards and at 600yard it was hitting the 6-8" rock I was shooting and it was getting there fast. Cant wait to see what it does to a coyote. At 3500fps. I'm using reloaded 26 and its not a hot load .

yeah, i'd appreciate any notes you have on that load. rl26 is one of the powders i have on hand. also rl17 and h4831sc. i hadn't thought about rl26 with a 110, but if it's accurate at that velocity without much pressure, i'm interested. many thanks.
nice rifle! i'm looking to rebarrel my fn tsr currently chambered in 300 wsm. i was planning on a 7-300 wsm, but i seem to be ending up with a lot of 270s. it'll be easier to stock bullets for one caliber. plus, i'll still have the ability to run factory ammo if i choose. don't have any pics of the fn since it's bone stock, but here's a couple of a z98 6.5x55 improved. it's currently wearing a vx3 40mm objective with s. low rings.

Don't get your concern about the 110 tsx being Finicky just load them and test them, prove it to yourself that's all that matters. Jump them 0.50 thou good to go

If you have a 1:8twist maybe take a look at the 126g hammer hunter. That would be awesome in a 270wsm.
Yes. The 126g Hammer Hunter would be a very nice bullet in the wsm. Not so darn long causing the normal problems that show up with the wsm. I would expect to see ~3450fps with this combo. The 8" twist would be capable of running the 156g Hammer Hunter at a vel ~3200fps. If throated correctly and a long enough mag capacity this would be a great combo as well. Depending on how far the actual realistic hunting distance is, I would probably lean to the 126g Hammer Hunter for the better point blank range capability.
