If I was to rebarrel my 270wsm to a 7mm which should I choose and why. I assume I'd have to go with a 300 wsm reamer if that was the right choice etc. One has more capacity?

The 7-270WSM and 7-300WSM are essentially the same thing. Most find it easier to neck up 270WSM brass. Both of them will have slightly longer necks at the expense of case capacity. If I were to build another WSM I would go with the 7-270. I believe the longer neck trumps the slightly larger case capacity. You will need a 7-270 or 7-300 WSM reamer. The 300 WSM reamer would ream the neck area to a 300 and would not work with a 7mm neck.

Many thanks

Are you asking why a 300 WSM is faster with a 150 than a 7 with a 150? If that is the question it is because the 300 has a larger bore and pressure will be lower so you can increase powder charge. The 7 will most likely have a higher ballistic coefficient had have less drop and wind deflection. I personally only shoot large for caliber bullets. I would NEVER shoot a 150 in a 30 cal. If you want 140-150 bullets go 6.5. If you want 180s go 7. If you want bigger(200,210,215) go 30. Then find the case to push them your desired velocity.
