I bought a Remington sendero in 7mm stw and am ready to start reloading for it. I was wondering if anyone else has this rifle. My question is where to start off the lands, what powder they suggest and how many grains, along with bullet type. I currently shoot Federal Premium whith the 160 gr. nosler accubonds .I didn't have time before hunting season to start reloading. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated, Thanks

I've had good luck with H-1000,IMR-7828,Reloader-22 and Winchester WXR powders in my 7 STW Sendero.I don't load any 160gr bullets in mine, usually 140-150gr.With 150gr bullets,80grs of Win WXR is my go to load @ 3450fps.Reloader-22 gives me basicly the same.I get 3325fps with 81grs of IMR 7828 and 3290fps with 82.0grs of H1000.Every rifle is different so you just have to experiment a little to find whats best for yours.

Re: switching powders

Shoot a 7mm RUM, and favorite load of 120gr vmax or ttsx with 108 grains of
AA8700 powder. my understanding is that 8700 has been discontinued.
am going to try IMR7828. my question is, is there any diff. between 7828 and
7828ssc. I understand the shape, metering, etc. will it burn the same?
Can't find much data for 120 gr. bullets to compare.
I have 7828. would like any info i can get on this cal/bullet combo.
I love it for long range coyote termination.:D

Maybe try some Retumbo or US869.

What velocity are you getting out of those 120 V-Max bullets?
Any terminal performance reports?

Re: switching powders

Just got back from range. had 6 emptys so loaded 3 with rem. mag primers and 3 with lg rifle. 92.5 grains of 7828. All 6 rounds printed 2.5 in hi at 100 yds, overlaping each strung center to hi right string distance was .75 in.
this is right where my old loads shoot (300 yd zero). I was pressed for time so
decided to work on figuring out my stony point elevation dial. It does not match
m.o.a adj. as compared to my hornady cheat sheet, but got me close and can now dial up out to 500 yds. Its a start. 400 is already top of back shot, but more precise now. and 500 was a bit of a guess. Not now
my 8700 loads chrony at 3655 fps avg. with 120 gr vmax. ttsx same.
109 gr of 8700, not the 108 i goofed ealier.
terminal performance? Dont shoot a deer with one, if you want
some meat to eat. I dont save pelts on coyotes so its just nice to be able to point and shoot at anything out to 400 yds. They die no matter where you hit them.
I dont get to see of course but my hunting partner loves the BOOM-SLAM......
its a little bigger than bang-flop.:D

When I had a 7 STW, I loaded Retumbo and 168gr Bergers just kissing the lands. Velocity was 3125fps for accuracy. I seem to always get alittle more velocity out of Retumbo, than H1000. It is my go to powder if the accuracy is there.
