7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Lefty, If you get the chance try some r-26 . my stw is a 28inch kreiger 1-8.5 at 3045 3 shot
average on lab-radar. only loading 75.5 grains.
with a 195??
My current bbl. is a 27" 8" twist shilen...

I haven't worked rl26 in this barrel, but my last barrel was screaming fast with it. I was able to take 140's up to a bit north of 3400 fps using rl26 in a 24" 10" twist barrel. I don't know the make of that bbl. though...

That is scooting with a 195. Decided to stand down on varmint load. I will let the 223 & 243 handle that. Now for 150gr AB load development. I'm pretty set on my 162 amax and 160 AB loads. Acquired 500 150gr ABs in a trade.

I' hit those 150 ablr's with about 80 gr of rl25 with a 215 under it in rem or ww brass.. work up, especially if you are using other brass...

Hey Lefty, what was your load for the 140's using RL26? I got the 140 Etip w/RL 26 running 3445fps before I hit pressure signs but it wasn't on an accuracy node at that speed. I'm trying find a load it likes in the mid to high 3300's fps

I found a great load for the 150gr ABLR. 81.8gr H1000, 3.65" OAL, Nosler brass and CCI 250 primer. Single digit ES. I can't remember the fps off the top of my head, but it was over 3100fps

not sure... tossed most of the data for that bbl. when it came off the rifle... I know my current 140 ab/rl25 load works in the bbl, so if it goes on another action that's where I'll start...

Welcome fellow 7mm Shooting Times Westerner shooters!gun)

This thread is for those of us who own and shoot a 7mm STW
this is where we can post our gun specs, talking about different load data, where to find our hard to come by brass, and just any other general 7mm STW knowledge

If it is your first post in this thread, lets start out by stating the specs of your 7mm STW(custom made rifles - describe all components), list scopes and other accessories on the rifle, and how long you have been with this caliber. Pictures of your setup would also be welcome

I hope this thread becomes a useful tool of information for everyone,

Enjoy,
-Matt
this is my first 7 STW. I built it myself, it's rem action 700. it's cut for a long box (3.825) Timney trigger, Walker Barrel 9 1/2 twist, boyds lam. stock and Brake. Nightforce 5.5 X 22 X 56 30 MM tube and a velocity 1000 reticle.

Try h1000 I was getting 3350 with 140 ABs in a 25.5" shipment barrel to .5" 81.5 grains though

been there, done that... h1000 is good as a payload pusher in mid mags like a 300win but I won't use it in my stw. I'll use rl22, 25, and 26... I'll think about 7828 too, but 7828 ran about 8Kpsi higher for the same performance as rl25 in my sendero 7stw so it would have to be delivering stellar accuracy to go there.

Your call but im a bit confused what's. It too like 140s at 3350 under .5" and a stable temp powder? Gets me to 3200 with 160s to .25". I guess should of asked this for hunting or targets?

I've always had better luck with retumbo than h1000 when you really want to get on a bigger mag; I haven't actually shot h1000 since the late 90's when I moved on from 190-200 grain pills in my 300win. I'm running retumbo with 180 sierra pills in my 7rum to north of 3100 fps.
I haven't had much trouble with rl powders and temp.. I simply sight in the rifle in similar conditions to what I'll hunt in. I've had temp./ vel. fluctuations in H powders too; the stability isn't all in the powder.
Not trying to burst your bubble with h1000; I don't hate the stuff... it's just not what I'm putting on my Wheaties in the morning lately.
