I'm planning on shooting 168 and 180 vlds out of my 7mag for long range shooting and I'm curiouser to get some opinions on powder choices. I would like to get good velocity. So any advice on what powder works best for u and ur experiences with it will be appreciated.

IMR-4831 and RL-22

Bug, all 7mm mags I have seen like either H 4831 SC or H 1000 for the 168's and H 1000 for the 180's. Barrel length and twist will be a factor also.

I'm getting all the supplies together and I've got everything but powder I've heard some things about h1000, have u ever used retumbo.

I did some load testing with Reloader-22 and 168gr Bergers in my 7mag with a 24" Douglas barrel. It shot darn good with 64.5grs of Reloader-22 with the velocity @ 2980fps.

I'm shooting 180 grain Berger VLD's out of my Sendero using 72.2 grains of Retumbo. Average velocity is 2975fps and it has shot very accurately out to 825 yards so far.

Sorry, fat fingered the grains used. It should be 70.2 not 72.2....

My vote is for H1000. I'm getting 3054 fps with 69.4 grs og H1000 and the 168 gr bergers. Super accurate too.

I use H-1000 69.0 grains 7mm mag. with the 168's VLD hunting bullets 2905fps Love the powder .gun)gun)gun)
Also use it with the 180 VLD's in my 300 win mag gun)gun)gun)
