I have a question in regards to freebore.

I'm considering sending my rifle off to LRI in order to rebarrel it to 7mm rem mag. Now they offer two 7mm rem mag reamers. Each with different freebore; one is .205 and the other is .220.

Now by this do they mean additional freebore beyond SAAMI? So this would make the COAL ~3.51 in order to reach the lands. Or does SAAMI spec not necessarily mean a freebore of .000?

Any clarification on this would be much appreciated.

Why not call them and find out? Sometimes going straight to the source is your best bet for accurate information.

That should mean TOTAL free bore but you will want to know what is the longest bullet you plan to shoot and what coal you can live with. If you have room and want to shoot the 195's, you more than likely will want to go long. I have not had much experience with the 7 mag but I suspect the original Remmy chambering was considerably shorter.....Rich

How would one calculate the freebore for the given chamber print?
