7mm Mag Bullet Elk

Will be hunting Elk with a 7 mag for the first time.....
Have no idea as to what bullet to use and weight...
Shots can be from 30yds to 350 yds. Have used the rifle for deer but never anything bigger...

Lots of good choices. The 160 accubond and the barnes ttsx would be a good start. They will kill your elk.

I feel the 160 gr. Partition or Accubond would be terrifc and I would use whichever one it shoots best with and not look back. Good luck.

I'd use the Barnes 150 gr ttsx. My second choice would be a 150 gr Scirocco.

I have shot about 20 elk with my 7mm loaded with 160 partitions as far as 550 yards and have been fortunate enough that none of them needed more than one shot. the partitions as far as I am concerned is an unbeatable bullet out to medium range as far as killing ability. they seem to just hammer them and are not stopped by bones.

The 160NAB at 3080fps MV worked well for me on a 6x6 at 325. 1st round through the lungs, second in the shoulders dropping him.
