7mm/300 Norma Mag

I am building one as we speak with GAPrecision out of Kansas City. I was looking for a very fast 7mm rifle that is capable of shooting big giant bullets. I want to be able to use the full case capacity while optimizing the rifle chamber for the berger hybrid. It requires a box mag but we can do it with the HSP mag and have it remain fairly flush with the stock.

I am a big fan of hitting animals as hard as I can with the most energy possible. I am not running this as a target or as a precision rifle, it is strictly for hunting so the bbl should last me 1000 +/- rounds I hope.

Going to run a 1:8 twist 26 inch barrel and chamber it specifically for the 195 bergers. Should be able to get in the 3200 fps range and keep stability at 1.75 or higher. Templar Action, Timney Trigger and Manners Stock. Hope to have it in about 3 months and be able to share results.
What barrel and contour are you going with

Comparison photo of my 7 Norma Improved with the 195 berger next to my 6.5 GAP with a 140 berger. My cocktail is:
26 inch 8 twist PROOF Sendero bbl
Case length trimmed to 2.500
86.2 grains Retumbo - CCI 250 primer
195 Berger EOL - .002 jump
3190 FPS at approx 85% case capacity

Overbore rifles MUST use premium brass to achieve possible velocity. I began using norma brass when I built the rifle last year and immediately had primer pocket issues and slight pressure signs. Moved to Peterson brass and both of those issues went away. I believe I can achieve mid 3200's with this barrel and set up but when I am shooting 5 shot groups in the 2's, why push it - hope to get 800 to 1000 out of this barrel.

That's a sexy round! I don't know why I am so drawn to it! Something about pushing big heavy for cal pills fast!!

seems really cool. Not sure I need another rifle right now, but neat cartridge. I have an empty chassis sitting here....

Went with a Proof carbon sendero

I went with 300 NM Imp 40 degree but I purchased a full die forming set that will do 338 to 6.5mm and 30 or 40 shoulders. What shank did you go with? Given the diameter of the Norma/Lapua base I was not comfortable with typical 1.0625" x 16 tenon diameter threading.

That tenon diameter is fine. I hve run many overbore calibers with that same thread. BAT Stiller and others thread with that size and 18tpi so imo it runs just fine
