7 STW fun

Took the STW out on Monday. I finally got some H1000 and sacrificed a few primers. Rifle shot very well I am finally pleased with the load. The shot that is alone was the last shot after a small adjustment.
I'll share some rifle pics and load info when I get home tonight.

A wise friend of mine who has quite a bit of competitive shooting experience as well as being on army shooting teams once told me: the two worst things for a precision shooter are a bore scope and a chronograph. let the results tell you the story. I'd say your STW is pretty happy!

Range a target, say a rock at 500 yards or whatever.
Count the clicks needed to hit the rock.
Compare that with information from one of the data sites and you will have the velocity number.
With the way you and the gun can shoot, a chronograph wont help you much.
Just make up a click chart and be happy.

You wont be far off if you just use 3250/3300 fps as a starter velocity number with that load.
You can fine tune the number after youve shot it at a few distant targets.

just ran into another trying to tell me that a 6.5 creedmoor has the same killing power as 7 STW at 800 yards.

I'm running 80.2 H1000, GM210 primers and 162 ELD-Ms, only shot whitetail and coyotes with so far, works great.

Not a big fan of Needmores, I'd rather just run a straight .260 , use N550 and push 142 SMKs close to 6.5 - 284 velocity.

Crazy creedmoomoo guy tried to tell me 6.5 was better, I said at what distance because unless it has after burners the creedmoomoo will never catch up. Whats wrong with these people.?
