I have stock remington LSS 700 mtn rifle in 7/08 that the wife really likes but I can't get the velocities to the point where I am happy. I would like feel comfortable out to 400 yds but am dissapointed in the speeds using 120 & 140 tsx / ttsx & 150 SII's. ( using RL-15 & H4350 )

Thinking the best option may be to rebarrel. Any suggestions on brand, & in the main group of the three or four mfgs is there much difference?

What velocity are you looking for? I load for a 7/08 with a 22 inch barrel and have been able to reach 2875 ft/sec with 139 BTSP Hornady bullets, using RL-19. My friend shot a nice buck with this load at 310 yards. With the 120 grain TTSX I think I could reach 3000 ft/sec with RL-19 powder out of a 22 inch barrel.

I think a great choice would be RL-17! The Alliant web site shows that you can get 3007 ft/sec with a 130 grain BTSP bullet and 48.5 grains of RL-17 with a 24 inch barrel.

I agree with your posted speeds. I've been averaging in the 25's with 150 sIIs, 26's using 140s & 28's shooting 120s.
I might try ramshot & varget & try accubonds before writing it off completly.
