I'm certain this has been covered before but I'm also certain I could never find it...
I have a Rem 700 long action for a donor and would like to have a 6mm Rem built for a walk around varmiter. Any huge drawbacks to this project?
thanks

everything should work out fine, and have plenty of room in that long action and magazine to feed the longer heavier bullets easily if you wanted to.
6mm-284 win. would get my vote for a 6mm L/A

+1
Been there, did that, worked out fine.

The 6mm rem will just barely fit in a short action magazine
and only with light (short) bullets seated deeply.

i build all my rifles, from 22-250 on up, on long actions. after you settle on bullet, you can build mag. block with model 7 follower if you need to. 6-06 would be perfect

I'll probably get my wife to pick up the tab on this one. She's dam lucky to have a guy like me for sure.
