Looking for advice and help forming 6mm HLS cases using standard 6mm Remington cases. I have cut back an extra 6mm Rem sizing die to work with using 22/250 go headspace gauge. I tried many different steps but just cannot eliminate getting the dimples shown in picture. Case on right is 22/250 Case resize but I want create the long neck. Appreciate any help you can share.

NO did not anneal , most of what I have read says anneal after forming. Thinking about trying a 243 Win case also.

that is because you are trying to go straight to 6mm. you need to use intermediate steps. use a 308 die to set the body shoulder close to where you want it, then start necking it down and setting shoulder angle and neck shoulder junction where you want. don't anneal if using new brass but if using older brass to help set up dies then you will want to anneal. it is tough to move that much body at 6mm in one step

Isn't most case forming for the 6 HLS done with either necking up .22-250 or necking down .250 Savage cases?
I have never seen one, but have heard of the cartridge.
I like wildcats, so I can fully appreciate trying something different.

Edit: Nevermind. The 6mm HLS is definitely not just a .250 Savage necked down.

I use a cutoff wheel on my Dremel tool to remove the bulk of neck length then finish with case trimmer saves a ton of time. just made 308 win out of 30-06 for a friend cant find 308 brass but he has a lot of 06
