6mm BR from a pistol (15\" tube)

Hello,

Recent conversations w/ a co-worker about Contenders and Encores has me pining for a hand cannon again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I have a T/C Encore action that has been sitting un-loved on a shelf for years since I sold all my stocks, barrels, etc. It needs some work (probably a trip back to the factory), but otherwise it's the prime candidate here.

I'm on my second 6mm BR *rifle*. First was a Savage w/ a 27", 8 twist Douglas barrel, the second is a custom 40X w/ a 29.5" 8 twist Lilja barrel. Almost all my shooting up to this point has been w/ powders like Varget & RE-15, and the 107gr SMK.

Still not entirely sure what I *want* this pistol for... whether it'd be primarily fur or paper. If just fur I'm thinking 75-90gr bullets, which out of a rifle would be about a 1-10" twist if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure a 105-107gr bullet would be moving fast enough from such a short barrel to be worthwhile.

What kind of real-world velocities are people seeing from various bullets (in the 6mm BR) out of specialty pistols like the Encore and XP-100s?

TIA,

Monte
