Anyone have any first hand experience on the 6 Super LR or 6.5 Super LR? I'm more interested in the 6.5.
Ballistics right at 6.5x284 Norma.

I don't think you'll get 6.5x284 ballistics with that. but, if you're going to do a wildcat cartridge, look at the 6.5-06... I'm running a 140gr Berger hybrid @ 3015fps with accuracy.

A friend and I have been shooting them for 3 seasons now 6.5slr with bore rider throat you can push 140bergers at 3000 FPS in a 26 inch barrel. I'm currently shooting 147eldm at 2940 I can run it hotter butt accuracy node is here in this 1. Rl16 and h4350 work well in them. I have been looking seriously at 6.5 ss 147 at 3200 sounds really good and now they have real brass.if I had a magnum bolt for my other short action I would probably build 1now.

I beg to differ sir. Sav 10FP, 26" varmint profile, 4x Hornady brass, 143ELDX, CCI-BR2. (My 6.5x284N has a pet load with 140VLDH, Norma case and/or H4831(best), H4831SC and Retumbo at 3015 and that's pushing it to the limit, in a 26" barrel and that makes me sad.) This rifle is sub-moa accurate, nothing exotic and it's not pressured out. Take it for what it is and look at my data? So yeah, the 6.5 Super LR can reach 3000fps with like 2.5grs more powder and with the long neck, not be a fast barrel eroder. Take a look at their data http://www.6mmar.com/65_SuperLR.php? And I have very little interest in 06 length based cartridges.

If you want to go off the .260, a .260 AI is hard to beat. I'm sending the 147 ELD-M at 3050 fps, and was sending 140 VLD's at 3070 without pressure. It's not hard to make em work well in a short action either, aics bottom metal or Wyatts mag box and you have plenty of OAL. Or if your using a savage, their factory mag box is plenty long.

The advantages of the 6.5 Super come in donor brass, re:243 and a 30 degrees shoulder/long neck..3000 fps
is quite capable without pressure issues...that with a std bolt face short action...not really possible in 6.5-284 which more often than not gets run in a LA, now in an extended well short action with a Wyatts Box maybe...guys will argue a 243 Ackley or a 260 Ackley will run close if not match up..so how different do you want to be? I run 6.5's in a GAP 4S as well as a 6.5-280AI, and a 6.5-284, I like them all..but for the $ a 6.5 Super is hard to beat in a SA and i'm already prepping a new reamer for my 6.5-280AI to run the 155 Berger EOL...if data is true I should be able to push it at 3050 and not get pressure issues in my 6.5-280AI..

I don't really see any advantage over the 6.5 creedmoor. with the right powders it can drive near 3000 but odds are you're not getting pinpoint accuracy. in my 6.5-06 I'm getting 3015fps with sub 1/2 moa accuracy using norma brass and 56gr re26... the only advantage a short action has over a long action is magazines...

Don't tell me what precision my rifles produce. I know what's acceptable and what isn't and if it isn't, time for a another barrel if different loads fail to shoot. For real, ONLY ACCURATE RIFLES ARE INTERESTING.

I don't think he was saying that you arent getting good accuracy, farmerboy was stating that in a Creedmoor at 3000 fps you likely aren't getting the best precision. Perhaps don't be so defensive if your asking for opinions and get one.

Regarding the Creedmoor in 6.5, I think anything thats done to that round regarding powder selection etc, can be done to the 243 AI or 6.5 Super and those rounds shine even more...BUT now that the CM brass has been wildcated into the 6CM and 22 and 25 CMs those cartidges have really been enthusiastically accepted as superior down range products..my 6CMs are just gnats *** accurate n for PRS comps I dont think there is a better balance...

Enough bench racing, just gonna stay with what I know and stay with Creedmoor case, in 6mm Creedmoor! This is for a PRS/Antelope rig. XLR chassis ordered. Barrel selection started, 1:7 twist for the heavies.
