I'm looking to build my next predator rifle and I'm leaning towards building a 6 dasher. I'm looking for any input on folks that have been running the light varmint bullets and with what barrel length? My second question is about next turning the 6 dasher brass. is that only for when using 6 br brass? If i buy head stamped 6 dasher brass all is good?

I built a couple now. My last one has a 24" proof barrel. 75 grain Tipped Hammer Hunters pressured out just shy of 3700 fps. About 3630 is where they'll be. Turning necks depends on brass and reamer. .275 neck for alpha brass .272 for Lapua I believe. I run the Alpha Dasher head stamp brass.

I run a 6 Dasher, Alpha .120 reamer. I fireformed and shoot Lapua 6BR cases. No tuning required. I've turned enough cases in my life. You couldn't pay me enough to turn one more.

It shoots!

So you used the reamer designed for the Alpha brass then? This is my first time getting into the less mainstream cartridges so i wanna make sure I'm up to date before i go ahead and build a gun! I appreciate the info

That's what i was hoping to hear! I'm not wanting to get into any neck turning haha and that's a beautiful rig and cant go wrong with those results!

I have a 22" 6 dasher I was shooting lighter non-lead bullets in. Using Lapua 6BR brass then fire formed. I prefer shooting the Berger 105, but when CA went lead free I needed a cheaper bullet I could plink squirrels with and shoot a coyote in a pinch. I started using the 62 grn varmint grenades. Think I was pushing them at 3450fps. For a little more money the hammer 55 grn hit 3600 fps pretty easy. With a sweet vapor trail. Wouldn't hesitate to shoot a deer with it.

I built a 22" long 6 Dasher a few years ago. I've shot the 103 ELDX and the 105 Berger hunting. I wasn't overly impressed with either of those bullets.

I just received some 75 HHT and 55 HH to try. My main use is for whitetail and general shooting/practice. So much fun to shoot the Dasher.

One thing to be aware of is the Dasher can be very hard to get to feed properly. Mine sucks!! I'd recommend a stock inlet for a proper removable mag. I did a BDL and wish I had done more research. I'm sure some of these guys can recommend what to use. Next time I'd go M5 inlet on the stock and a Hawkins hunter magazine set up. Unless someone knows of a better system.

So far I've used these mags in an Impact and Defiance Anti action without problem.

I'm curious to hear how the 55s do. Please post your results.

Will these mags work with a BDL inlet stock. Gun is built on a trued 700 SA with a PTG bolt. I thought of getting the stock inlet changed, but not sure who does this in Canada. I'm almost to the point of pulling the barrel off and re chamber to a 6 creed. But I can't bring myself to do it, as I like the Dasher to much. I may send you a PM as to not highjack this thread. Thanks for the suggestions. With a -35C windchill today it may be awhile before I try the 55 HH.

I just had a dasher built for lightweights. I'm running 64 grain bergers at 3600! I have a short throat reamer custom cut for light bullets. Pm me for details it's a long wait for the right reamer without a mile of FB set up for heavies.
