Just got my rifle done and now ready to load. I'll be starting with the 147gr Hornady blems for the first few hundred rounds to get the barrel going. Lapua brass and tons of Varget and other powders. Any info?

You got the right powder.. Just let her buck.. 140 berger hybrid or 140 eld match are better than the Blems your going to shoot but that will get your barrel started.. 36.7 grains of varget for me one hole groups all day long.. 140 berger hybrid .015 lands.. Great combo... Good luck you will love this caliber.. its a hammer.

As always work up to loads...

I'm running either 142gr SMK or 142gr ABLR. Tried 123gr Scenar, shot well enough with H4350.
Am trying Varget next year as H4350 is impossible to find here.

Cheers.

The 6.5X47 Lapua is an equal opportunity powder burner. During the current component emergency I have used: Power Pro 4000MR (140's), H Benchmark (120 & 123's), IMR 8208 (120 & 123's), StaBall (120 to 140's), H414 (120-140's), Alliant R16 (140's), CFE223 (120 & 123's), VV N140 (120-123's) & H4350 (140's).

I use whatever powder is left over from .20P, .204R & .223 with 120's & 123's for shooting rodents meaning IMR 8208 & H Benchmark, & CFE223 - real good velocities. With H4350 & RL16 the tiny little round rivals the much bigger 6.5-06 with 140's. I like the low price 140 Barnes Match Burners with Rem 7 1/2 primers - jiggles steel way out there. Don't think Barnes sells blems. Pressures are probably in the mid 60 K range.
