I've got a Bartlein 1:8.5 twist rate that I'd like to put on a Rem 700 action. MY question is will it stabilize a 140g Berger VLD? The Berger book says 1:8 is needed but does anyone have experience with shooting a 140g with the 1:8.5?

Thanks

I know the 6.5 saum 4s shoots the 140 gr out of a 8.7 twist really well. Although honestly, I don't know how close these 2 cartridges compare and how much their differences change the demand for faster twist rates. The SAUM will push it just over the 3000 fps accurately. The 6.5-284 must be close? Seeing what others have done. , you should be fine shooting the 140 's.
