Brass life with that load is 3 shots with both hornady and lapua brass before it will not effectively hold a primer in place or you get the smoke ring around the primer on the fourth, regardless of the load. 1 out of 5 will blow a primer completely on the fourth round if that load is used. The only real pressure sign you see in my gun in head expansion. Winchester brass will outright not hold up with that load while the case capacity was within .3 grains of water. It would only take 50.5 grains behind a Berger and 50 with the hornady. While my accuracy and ES/SD was good, I do not recommend using that load. I would stick with 51 as an absolute maximum and if I got good accuracy before that I would roll with it. RL17 will easily get you over 3000 fps. I use 52 grains of RL17 with the 130 and get fair case life and 3200 fps with a 26 inch barrel, 3140 with a 23.5 inch barrel.

I been tring to get a load workd up for my new savage 116. I think it has a 22 or 23.5 inch barrel. I've been tring the 4831SC. With book loads I get at best around 2700 FPS. I've went to 53 grains at 2980fps. No sign of pressure issues but load was opening up at 100yrds. I tried some of the HSM berger loads and for some reason they shoot out of my gun at 3015fps and my bolt is tight when unloading. Also the case is showings signs of bolt marks. I think the loads are to hot for my rifle which is really odd but it is what it is. I'm shooting for around 2850fps with good groups. My 51.5grn at COL 3.1, 140grn berger only yielded 2660 to 2700fps but the group was 3/4 inch at 100yrds. Also this gun has only had about 30 round through it so it might still be settling in on the volicity. I also was not cleaning after each and every round. Shooting 3 rounds and then clean. But once this barrel is gone or I save up some more money its getting a match grade barrel put on. Right now I have no compalints about the gun though.
I have done a lot of testing, primarily with two powders, H4831sc and Retumbo in both a 24" SavageLRH and a 26" Cooper52. Both have 1:8 twist barrels and the COAL to the lands with Berger Hunting 140VLD's is 3.19" and 3.16" repectively. My goal was to get .25-.5MOA at 200 yards, then confirmed at 500 yards, 5-10ES, and no pressure signs at a minimum 2950 FPS. Final testing was to confirm drop data and accuracy , rock testing out at 1000 yards. My results that achieved this is;
Both rifles: Lapua brass, FL sized, neck bushing .292", case sizing -,001", .075" out of the lands.
Savage: H4831SC, 53gr. Fed 210M, 2945FPS
Retumbo, 59gr. Fed 215, 3015FPS
Cooper: H4831SC, 53gr. Fed210M, 2965FPS
Retumbo, 59gr. Fed215, 3020FPS
Notes: Retumbo has changed the powder sometime over the last couple of years. Last two recent lots have produced 60-70 FPS more velocity than my older supply. Pressure and accuracy is the same in my rifles with this hotter formulation. To get the same original velocity to match my turrets, I had to back off the new lot by 1.5 gr. Interestingly, best accuracy and pressure was achieved by backing off on seating depth. Pressure sign were just showing at these loads but disappeared when I seated at .050" or more off the lands. Retumbo gave best ES with Fed215's, H4831sc gave best accuracy with Fed210M. Both loads will produce .5MOA for both rifles but at 500 yards, the H4831SC in the Savage and Retumbo in the Cooper indicated best accuracy with groups in the .25MOA range. I haven't tried any other powders, but I did try JLK's. They perform identically to the Bergers, but since they are harder to get hold of, I use the Bergers.

Ive trying different loads and lengths mentioned above for 6.5x284 with 140 gr. Nosler comp. bullet and best group was .625.
I finally switched to 7828scc and shot a ragged whole at 100 yards.
I guess my question is does imr 7828scc harder on my barrel than the others. Velocity is way down from you guys are running but I like the accuracy.

I don't believe you will ee any difference i barrel life.
