Really want to build this set up but curious if it's reasonable to think I could achieve good accuracy out to 500 yards and 2850 FPS with an all copper bullet (probably PVA 122gr Cayuga). Rifle will be used for smaller than elk sized game. Planning to run it suppressed. Am I missing anything before I start to purchase parts ? Just wanted opinions but prefer experiences that people have in the midrange short magnum type cartridges in super short barrels and what velocities and performance to expect. 6.5 wsm because I already have the reloading equipment for it .

I do wonder though if 17" is too short to burn as much powder through that wsm case . I'd like to keep it as short as possible because my suppressor is 8-9" I think. Wanted to try to keep the overall length around 24-25" suppressed .

I shoot a 20" 6.5SS suppressed w. TBAC Ultra 7. I have a few loads for it. 130 TMK @ 3036fps (RL23), 144 LR Hyb @ 2994fps (N565), and 156 Elite @ 2910fps (H1000 or N565). I have shot them all out to 1400+.

I would say use a powder on the faster burn rate, and you should have plenty of barrel length for a full burn @ 18" +/-.

Impressive! That was my thoughts, h4350 or maybe a bit faster to push a 122 - 125 gr out of 17"

I would reconsider the 122 Cayuga. I killed/witnedded 5 animals taken with them last year. They do not expand much, you have to put it on big bone to get any performance. My elk took 3 rounds in vitals like nothing had hit him, high shoulder shot put him down, these were traveling over 3400fps from a 26" saum, using rl23 powder. The deer and antelope shot with them went down and stayed down, but the animals were still alive when I got to them until I blead them out. I prefer a more ethical clean kill. I think the 125 bulldozer 2 would be a better choice, however it will run approx 100fps slower than they Cayuga. There's a 123 absolute hammer. These are better bullets.
