6.5mm Craze? 264WM vs 6.5 SAUM vs 6.5 PRC?

That only matters if you're hung up on short actions
But a short action is 1.8oz lighter than a long action.......

The absurdity of that claim lies in that it's usually made by a male hunter who probably has 1,000+ ounces of extra body fat that could be gotten rid of before "action weight" actually matters.

It will probably be the second most dominant 6.5 on the market, and second only to the damned Needmore.
Maybe. All that glitters doesn't seem to be gold. Looks to be some teething problems with the 6.5PRC. Some love it, others struggle with issues. Looks a lot like the 6.5x284 in its early days from wildcat to Norma spec. The "mass" market may not have the patience for the bugs to be worked out. IMO.

The mass market is buying them up as fast as they can be produced.

Ha Ha Ha...Needmore! Good one.
Well I have nit seen a single cartridge create such a big wave in many years.
Good Bad Or Indifferent it has gotten a good Toe Hold.
I think it brought out new and old bored shooters wanting to try their hand at Lo g Range Shooting in several different sports.
Hornady is a master at Marketing

True...until you run RL 26 in the PRC. We how this goes? Soup one up and leave the other the same isn't how you compare stuff. Like saying a 280 ai is as fast as a 7 mag. Yeah, a hot rodded 280ai vs. factory neutered loads. Anyway. It's all good. I do get what your saying and I like the CM for mild, accurate high volume round for sure.
The beauty of the 280 al is you get 7mag performance with a lot less powder and recoil if you use rl 26. Yes the 7 mag can be pushed harder with rl 26 but at the expense of even more recoil , muzzle blast, and reduced barrel life.

My only 6 1/2's up to a year ago were a pair of 1903 MS's in, of course, 6.5MS. I evaluated all of the new crop of 6 1/2's and found that the Weatherby 6.5 RPM out ran all but the 26N and Weatherby 6.5-300. With Weatherby (Norma) brass readily available unlike the various wildcards there's no need for case conversions. I push a 143 gr ELD-X right at 3100 fps now out of a Mk V Backcountry. Couldn't be happier. Food for thought.

And those who don't load their own can't find ammo.
Then there is the clicking problem dies or in some cases the chamber.
I bought a PRC in a Wea. Vanguard. I am underwhelmed so far.
But I haven't tried many loads yet. It doesn't like the 147 ELDM much, I bought some ELDX's and 139 Scenar, we shall see!

Good to know.
I am interested in a Remage with that chambering. I asked someone about this cartridge that had a rifle built and he had some issues.
Right now it seems the 6.5x284 is a solid choice for us that load our own.

Craze is right!!! Life was so simple years ago. Interestingly, WEZ's are not much different today, and game no deader then those shot back then with the available 6.5 cartridges. Enough choices to make your head spin….And countless threads, posts, and viewpoints. IMO…
I like a lot of choices, if you don't then stop reading about them. We don't want to be limited just because you're not happy. Stop all the whining! Shoot what you like and leave others to do the same. 6.5 saum shooter.
