Hey guys i got the urge to build another rifle, and i would like a 6.5 284 . Use would be mainly hunting and some range work, and i dont mind a bit of weight so it dosnt need to be a real light. which action , barrel type and lengh etc would you suggest.

If using a Remington, go to a Long Action, even though the 6.5-284 is thought of as a short action cartridge.

If you get the Remington, the short action works just fine with a Wyatt's center feed magazine box.
Not only does it feed perfectly it allows you to seat 140 VLD bullets out to C.O.A.L. of 2.970.

8" twist works for me shooting the 140 VLD and that is what Berger recommends.

700 muzzle dia.

24" is plenty to easily get 3,000 mv with a 140.

I've been using 7828 SSC, RL17 and RL 25 in mine.

Magnum powder has outstanding accuracy when shooting 125/130's.
