6.5 velocities

Way to many variables but usually the more powder you burn the fast the projectile goes. Big magnums are going to smoke a standard short action. I'll keep my results to 1 bullet weight for comparison purposes only.

260 rem, 26" Shilen, 130 Berger VLD Hunters, Lapua brass, Federal GM210M primers, 43.9gr H4350, 3010 FPS. Do not ever use other people's load data assuming it is okay for all rifles. Start low book and work up monitoring pressure signs.

6.5 saum 156 Berger at 3065 23" barrel.
260 AI 143 eldx at 3004 26" barrel. One of my past saum's would consistently hit 3200 on a 26" barrel with the 143 eldx. All of these velocities were with rl26.

SAC built 6.5 SAUM 26" Bartlein

140 Nosler RDF with 58.7g H1000 I get 3008 fps with great accuracy. I can load up to 62.7g H1000 at 3280fps with great accuracy and no obvious pressure signs like sticky bolt or ejector marks etc.

I have built two 6.5-270 WSMs (same as 6.5-300 but using 270 WSM brass) and three 6.5 Sherman Shorts. The SS consistently gets as fast or better velocity with the same bullets as the 6.5-270.

I really love my 6.5CM. It's extremely easy to shoot and it shoots very well. I'm just disappointed in my velocities. I've tried two powders and two primers so far. My velocities are in the mid to upper 2500's. I'm going to try Reloader 16 tomorrow to see what it yields.
What combination did you use to obtain 2800 from the 143 ELDX's. 24in. barrel?
I'm with you on the 6.5 C. I've tried 5 powders, bullets and primers and can't get over 2800 unless I use a hammer to get the bolt open.

6.5 Sherman Shortmag. 140 VLD's , 60 gr N570. I get 3248 fps (average from labradar) this is a 26" barrel. I want to try the new 156 berger bullets but this thing is so accurate it's not a huge priority. As far as a short action goes. the Sherman Shortmags cant be beat if you want a magazine fed rifle. This is my heavy hunting rifle as well. Love it so . much im on my second barrel. will be time for a 3rd soon.
