I've acquired another Win Mod 88, this is the 6th one I've had. It's a 308 Win. I bought it thinking of a rebarrel in 284 Win, as I have nothing in that caliber. Then I discover 284 Win is NOT a necked down 308, as I thought. Seems brass may be somewhat difficult to locate.

How about a 6.5 Sherman SST ? Would require opening the bolt face up .061. That's .0305 radius. Seems I heard of people doing this on two lug bolts with success; the 88 Win has a three lug bolt. Any fans of this action here ?

What a hoot this thing would be !

Also thinking of adding a recoil lug, as these things are known for splitting stocks. Oh, and maybe a carbon wrap barrel !
The triggers on these actions DO suck, but they can be brought to a crisp clean break. This particular rifle has about a quarter mile of creep...

I just checked a supplier- the 284 Win ain't dead yet, brass is available.
but a SHERMAN SST!!! In a LEVER action ! Talk to me folks!! Do able ?
