6.5 SS suppressed Barrel Length?

Been thinking of building a 6.5 SS and hunting with a suppressor on it. what length barrel would you go with?

I prefer shorter the better. I have a 308 with a 16" barrel and suppressor. Would 18" barrel loose too much velocity to make that cartridge worth it? I was thinking to go with the 6.5 SS to make up the velocity in a short barrel.

I have a 20" 1:7.5" 6.5SS I run suppressed. Love it.
I have great loads for several bullets.
129 Absolute Hammer @ 3145fps
144 LR Hyb @ 2976fps (target load) amd 3077fps (hunting load)
150 SMK @ 2925fps
156 EOL @ 3001fps (max hunting load)

My barrel is pretty fast, and speeds are not necessarily normal.

So it looks like a 20" would definitely hit acceptable velocities. Will have to run some ballistics on the 18" to see....

What powder are you using with the 129 Absolute Hammer? That would most likely be the hunting load I would use.

So I went with the 20", now to see how long it takes 😬.

has anyone tried the 109 AH in the 6.5SS? Should be a laser beam! What powders would you try for that bullet?

Still working on the 6.5ss and 300max. I worked on the 300max today. I'm at 64.5 grains of RL16 today. No real pressure signs yet. Going to 65.5 grains tomorrow. Today's velocity was 2960. This is with a 18" barrel.

What bullet on the 300Max?
