I have a 6.5 wsm that has around 400 rounds down it. Ill report back on barrel life if i shoot it out this year. I have a really hard time believing that a 6.5 Saum would have a +2000 round barrel life compared to a 600 round barrel life of a 6.5 WSM.

(bringing up an old thread)

Rhovee - its been a few years, now, any reports on barrel life of your 6.5 WSM?

I got to about 700 and pulled it.
Roger that. Thanks.

700 is a pretty short life. A slow firing shooter, due to less barrel heating, can usually get closer to 1000 rounds with a .264 Win Mag, which is itself a notorious barrel burner. Would you say there was a lot of fast shooting with your rifle, or is the 6.5 WSM even harder on barrel throats than a 264WM?

I don't think it's harder on barrels than 264 win mag. Same amount of powder burnt. I got bored with it more than it was toast. Switched to a 7 saum and much happier.
