I got back from my TX trip and apparently shot a nice ram. The reason I say apparently is that it was pretty much the first ram I saw. I passed on it for a few days and the guy whose place we were on was beside himself. I looked at some other sheep before I decided to go and try and find the one I passed on originally again. Found him again and it took one shot from my 6.5 prc and a 124 Hammer at about 250 to put him down in a hurry. I doubt the thing lived more than 10 seconds after I shot it. I was wondering what was going to happen since I was told they were "tougher than elk" and could take a lot of lead. My buddy shot his with a 6.5 PRC as well...same result. I just followed the front leg straight up about 1/3rd and let er buck. Pretty easy place to shoot them if you ask me. All in all it was a cool hunt. A few people I talked to likened the hunt itself to a Mountain Goat hunt or a Sheep hunt. We hunted some decently rugged country, but my Aoudad hunt was a walk in the park compared to the goat and sheep hunts I have been on.
