6.5 CM GO TO LOAD

Just wanted to share some load data that may help someone out. I've found this load to shoot sub moa to below 1/2 moa in 6 different rifles now. It's a very safe, middle of the road, load. I've shot it through different length barrels and still the same result. So hopefully this could give someone a good starting point if loading this caliber. I'm sure there are others shooting the same load as well. It's also been a very good hunting load for me.

143gn Hornady ELDX
40.5gn H4350
Hornady Brass
Federal 210 primers
I will have to check the OAL, but I started loading it based on the OAL of the Hornady Precision Hunter factory loads.

These groups were shot today, out of a Savage 10TSR, 24"bbl, 48 degrees, 7mph crosswind. I know a lot seem to hate on the Savage rifles, but this rifle has truly impressed me. It's a $1600 total setup, and consistently shoots sub half moa

That is a good proven load for the 6.5. For some rifles you can gradually work up a bit more and possibly fine tune the load. For example, I have one 6.5 CM that loves the 143 ELD-X over 41.3 grains of H4350. Extreme spread of 8 fps and .25 MOA groups at 2690 fps

I agree. 40gr of H4350 over any 140gr bullet in a decent rifle is .75MOA or better. 0.3's for me with a Berger or Hornady AMAX (I had a few) in my Christensen Arms 22" barrel.

I am (we are) in process of working up a load that is suitable for 3 different 6.5 CM's ... My nephew, my son-in-law, and my own ...

We have plenty of Hornady 140 BTHP Match (NOT the eld's - we couldn't find them), H4350, Hornady LR Primer brass, Lapua SR Primer brass, CCI-BR2, CCI-BR4, 210M, 205M, and Rem 7 1/2 BR SR primers to try to find the "best" across all 3 ...

All 3 rifles are savage in quality stocks with solid glass and we're hoping for a load that will shoot 1/2 moa across all 3 ..

If we find it - I will post the load so long as we don't see variable pressures indicated between the 3 different rifles ...

That's pretty much where mine was, 41.5 and rarely if ever an extreme spead over 10. I had a 10 shot string once that was 4.

One of the few rifles i really regret letting go.

We're planning to start a saami max to locate the node then move to the lands and start working our way back but we expect we may be limited by mag length ...

Have any of you guys experimented with distance to the lands with either the hornady 140eldm or 140bthp match?
