Hey guys. I just bought a bunch of amaxs for my 6.5x284 and I was wondering where the amax like to be? I understand that every rifle is different but it's safe to say that bergers like to be in the lands in most guns so it's a good starting place, and I was wondering if the amaxs had the same habits. And just for extra info the load will be between 57-59 grains retumbo and 215s. Any info is appreciated. Thanks guys!

I shoot them in my .260 and jump them. I shoot Amax's in most of my rifles and everyone is jumped. They all shoot good - great.

Excellent thank ya sir. Also what velocities do you get with this bullet and the 260? I do alt of high volume shooting and I was thinking of switching to the 260 to keep the bullets but use less powder

I just built a 260 AI for a buddy. Jumped the 140 amax .010. Accuracy is outstanding, velocity is lacking. 2750 in a 24" bartlein, with 47 gr h4831.

That seems really really slow. I've built a couple standard 260s that are faster than that. My 260 Ackley is pushing 140s at 2940 with 44 grains of H4350. I would check that chronograph against someone else's.

**** seems like you could get that with that much powder in the standard case. But .10 off seemed to work pretty well?

260 with A-Max 140s. Generally for me .020 off down to .005 off.

28" Pac-Nor 3L, H4350, ~2850fps

ive had luck both jumped and on the lands. i have a 338 win mag that i shoot the 285 amaxs in that i load to mag length. They are taking a huge jump and shoot amazing. always had great luck with amaxs.

Only shot the 178s up till now but they were outstanding so I'm sure these will be too. I'm thinkin 58 grains retumbo should put me around 3000

I had a bit if triptophan induced brain fade. I also use 208 A-Max in a 300 WSM to the same .020 to .005 off.

ITWM: H4831, .020 off to start or book length, powder charge adjusted for seating depth changes to case capacity.
